A ROPP (Roll-On Pilfer-Proof) cap has no pre-formed threads. During capping, the capping head rolls the threads and tamper-evident band directly onto the bottle neck. Once opened, the band breaks, giving visible tamper evidence. It is the standard closure for spirits and wine and requires ROPP capping equipment. Regular screw caps have pre-formed threads and are used where resealing matters.

Neck finishes such as 28-400 and 28-410 share the same diameter but differ in thread profile and engagement depth, which directly affect removal torque and liner compression. Matching by diameter alone causes loosening and leakage. Always match the full finish number and verify with gauges or a physical sample.

Common pairings: cork-finish wine bottles usually take 30*55mm or 30*60mm capsules covering the cork; short-neck spirits bottles such as whisky and vodka fit 31*60mm or 34*65mm; olive oil screw-finish bottles with wider flanges usually fall in the 32-35mm range. Final size must be confirmed by actual T/E/H measurements or a sample, and a small shrink test before mass production is recommended.
